Construction

At first glance, the sail might look like an "orange" version of our freeride sail – but it is not. The GT-3 FOIL is the latest member of PATRIK's racing department, with materials selected accordingly. The mast sleeve features a thick 7 MIL monofilm luff panel (the same as in our dedicated 4-cam sails) for maximum stiffness and locked profile. Towards the clew, we add a full vertical strip of 5 MIL x-ply before the main panel, which softens and controls the direct feel of a cammed sail.

The main panels are a solid and thick 5 MIL clear monofilm and a 4 MIL orange-tinted monofilm in the top for maximum lightness and UV protection. For the base and leech, 5 MIL x-ply is used – protecting the most exposed area and keeping the trailing edge stable and aerodynamically clean even in strong, gusty winds.

Trim

We strongly recommend using the GT3-Foil with our RDM masts. Use the black and white trim indicators on the batten pockets as a reference for correct downhaul tension. Then use the outhaul to adjust the sail to your needs – experienced race foilers usually prefer a flatter, locked sail with more outhaul, while less outhaul provides more power for fin riding.
