Shape & construction

Construction

Racing is an area of no compromise for Patrik Diethelm – every detail is optimized with maximum performance in mind. All luff panel sections are made from the thickest monofilm available, providing the best possible stiffness and a locked profile where the main shape sits. The main panels are 5 MIL clear monofilm from B7 to B4, and then 4 MIL above that batten – clear monofilm weighs a few grams less than the colored version. In the foot panel and a minimalist area around the clew, impact-resistant 5 MIL red x-ply is used, as the sail often rubs against the extremely wide racing boards' deck grips there. Along the leech, you'll find 5 MIL (closest to the clew) and 4 MIL (closest to the top) clear x-ply, which keeps the trailing edge stable and aerodynamically clean even in strong, choppy winds. In the luff sleeve, the amount of PE fabric has been reduced in favor of more 2 MIL x/scrim-ply – a lightweight material with the highest number of fibers per square meter, perfect for distributing the load across the entire sail.

Trimming

Set the correct downhaul according to the color markings on the batten pockets. Use the clew ring options to adapt the sail to the wind conditions – high clew position as standard, low position to depower the sail and gain even more control.
